My Story

Feel rejuvenated by the vibrant scents of the great outdoors every morning!

A walk in the woods or a picnic by the river are wonderful ways to take in the splendor of the great outdoors.   The natural scents of mother nature, from cedar to pine, to herbs like rosemary and lemongrass, to wonderful blooms like jasmine & honeysuckle, all remind us of the wonderful scents created by Mother Nature.  In addition, revitalizing ingredients like shea butter, goat milk and oatmeal combine to help your skin feel soft, radiant, and youthful.  At Ridgeway Soapworks, we make soaps that your skin will LOVE.

I was convinced for years that I had dry skin and spent a fortune on expensive, ant-aging products from many different companies.  I love to cook and make things, and on a whim made a batch of soap.  After soap came lotion, then lip balm and bath salts, and the more I learned, the more I knew this was my calling.  And to my surprise, once I started to use my handcrafted soaps, I no longer had dry skin.  For me, knowing that I am using products on my skin from easy to understand ingredients matters. I love to use luxurious oils like shea butter and argan oil because they make my skin feel soft, moisturized and glowing!

Try our soaps to see for yourself how wonderful your skin will feel after using them!

Here are a few reviews our customers have left about our artisan soaps.

“These are wonderful soaps! Great for easing dry skin. I also love the lotion bars and the goat milk moisturizer. I can’t imagine living through the winter without Ridgeway Soapworks!”

“These are the best soaps. I live out west in a very arid climate and have definitely noticed a difference since we started ordering these. They small great as well it is like aromatherapy in the shower when I use the one with eucalyptus and mint!”

  1. Molly – Hey!! Congrats of the success of your business venture!! I am Lindsay’s Mom and she bought some of your soaps for me last year – I LOVE them!! I want to get more – I went to ETSY, but didn’t see the one she got. I will order 5 bars, and give some as gifts, and maybe bring you more customers too.She said she thought it was Citrus Mango Butter. It was a soap though, not Body Butter – it was a light green with veins and blocks of a tangerine color. Does that description help you at all? I am not sure what it is called. I love the design of the soap featured in Bramble Tree as photo of the month, I think>Are you going to be a vendor at the annual Norcross Art Fair in a few weeks??

  2. Molly,

I have scoured the internet for tips and clues to duplicate the Sharon Johnson fluid hp soap. Thank you for the article. I just don’t have the $70 bucks, ya know?

I will do your suggestions. I am not sure how to make the water content 38% though, since I usually use already formulated recipes from on line and run them through a lye calculator. Should I just hold out several ounces of water? Does Sharon add coconut milk & to her HP?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions, if you could share a generic recipe that works good for you I would be greatful.

    Sincerely,

    Teal

    1. Hi Teal, Since I wrote this post I changed my HP soapmaking to use Sharon’s process. I bought her book and it was worth every penny. She includes quite a few recipes that work very well for her method and i am glad I used those when first learning that process. It is a little tricky at first, but once you understand what is happening in the various stages, it is a much faster way to make soap, and suited towards bigger batches. Compared to the cost of taking a class, it is not that much money and I recommend you make the investment if you are interested in that process. Soap calc has an option to set the water %, and i always advise running any recipe through soap calc to ensure you have the correct lye amount. Sharon’s book has a bunch of recipes that are wonderful, as does Soap Queen’s blog (CP recipes for for HP). Good luck and happy soaping!!
